A self-taught cookfor over 25 years, Mary Zachery has prepared meals in kitchens from Delaware to Atlanta. Her culinary style is unique and self-characterized as “food for the soul.” She has a respectful traditional method but always adds her own little twist to the ingredients. As head chef of Aunt Mary’s Kitchen, (a local restaurant/caterer providing soul food and crabs officially open in Milford, DE) the results of that style illustrate inspired combinations of ingredients, technique, and incomparable flavors.She does not prefer to cook any pork unless demanded. Aunt Mary’s food is always served fresh with a smile!
Zachery grew up in Slaughter Neck, De where her mother frequently fed the whole neighborhood.She ventured off to several areas in Kent County but now resides in Lincoln, DE with her daughters, and her sons close by, who you’ll see helping with the family business. An avid Cowboys fan, Zacheryis most known for her free Sunday dinners andher ten dollar platters (consisting of one meat, three sides, roll, and dessert), sold at events such as Capital City Farmer’s Market, The African Festival, The Blackbird Creek Festival, The Dover Urban Music Festival, The Delaware Indie Festival and many more festivals around Delaware. Her passion to cook keeps her motivated to succeed in this art. From the gracious service to the charming atmosphere, Aunt Mary certainly strives to provide a spectacular overall dining experience.
